Vendor Opportunities: Showcasing African Cuisine, Art, and More
The Worcester African Festival offers a platform for various vendors to showcase their products and services, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the event. Here are the different types of vendors who are encouraged to apply:
1. Food Trucks and Restaurants: If you specialize in freshly made and culturally-inspired cuisine, this is the perfect opportunity to share your culinary delights with festival-goers. However, please note that a City of Worcester Food Permit is required, and vendors must secure their own permits before the event. Festival Fee: $200.
2. Farmers: This category welcomes farmers who wish to display and sell their produce, goods, and wares. It's an excellent chance to introduce festival attendees to the diverse agricultural heritage of Africa. Festival Fee: $200.
3. Crafters and Artisans: For artists and crafters, this is an ideal platform to showcase their handmade goods and wares. Only one-of-a-kind, handcrafted items are permitted, ensuring a unique and authentic shopping experience for visitors. Festival Fee: $150.
4. Non-Profits or Professional Organizations: This category is open to organizations looking to promote their mission, programs, and events while providing entertainment. Interactive elements such as face painting, games, or photo booths are encouraged to engage festival-goers. Festival Fee: $100.
Booth/Space Terms and Conditions:
MOAD will provide vendors with a designated space, including a 6' table. Vendors are responsible for bringing their own chairs and tents (10ft x 10ft or smaller, weighing 20lbs per leg). It is crucial for vendors to comply with festival policies and ensure the safety and security of their tents. Payment of the fee in full by the registration deadline is required for vendor approval. Vendors must also manage the cleanup of their space and remove trash during and after the festival.
According to MOAD's Cultural Sub-committee, "The Worcester African Festival aims to promote the diversity of African cultures and unite us under one common interest of love and pride for our African heritage. It serves as a platform for empowerment, advocacy, and fostering leadership skills within the African community."
