The story begins with Talika Patrick, a 30-year-old medical resident, who posted two heartfelt but unnoticed videos on a YouTube channel she created. Her videos were intended as messages for a loved one but went largely unseen.

On December 5, 2013, Talika displayed unusual and frantic behavior during her work shift at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. After asking a co-worker for a ride to a nearby hotel, she was turned away due to a lack of proper ID and money. She left the hotel, took a shuttle back to the hospital to retrieve her wallet, but then acted oddly, avoiding returning to the hospital and running off.

Talika drove erratically at high speeds, possibly trying to evade someone or something. A concerned motorist reported her dangerous driving, but before the police could respond, Talika's tire burst, causing her car to stop on the side of the road. She exited the vehicle and was never seen again. The disappearance remains a significant mystery, with her car found abandoned and no clear trace of her whereabouts.
