Jules, a foster child, lives with her abusive foster mother, Miss Evans, who constantly favors her biological son Hank. Jules receives little support and is treated unfairly, while Hank is showered with gifts and affection. Despite the harsh treatment, Jules finds solace in her talent for designing and creating clothes. She meets Ruby, a kind girl who moves in next door, and Ruby, along with her supportive mother Lucia, encourage Jules to pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion designer.

Jules creates beautiful clothes and sells them to save money for a prestigious fashion program in Paris. However, Miss Evans destroys one of Jules’s gowns and steals her money.
