David is a kind-hearted man going through a tough time. Despite losing his job at a diner and being evicted from his apartment, he remains committed to helping others. One day, he gives his last dollar to a struggling homeless woman and her daughter, even though it leaves him in need of bus fare.
David's girlfriend, Mandy, frustrated with his inability to hold a job and pay rent, leaves him, claiming she can't wait for him to improve his situation. Left homeless and jobless, David starts questioning whether doing good deeds is worth it.
Months later, David is surprised when the woman he helped finds him. She tells him that one of the items she bought with the dollar he gave her was a winning lottery ticket worth $2 million. Because of David’s kindness, she was able to get off the streets, and now she wants to share half of the money with him, saying it's the universe paying him back for his good deed.
With this unexpected fortune, David turns his life around. He re-enrolls in school and finally pursues his dream of becoming an engineer. When Mandy sees his success and tries to reconnect, David rejects her, realizing that he deserves someone who believes in him. The story ends with David embracing the belief that good things come back to those who do good.
