"Hilaw" is a Tagalog horror animation based on a true story about a family's terrifying encounter with an aswang. The story follows Lito and his pregnant wife, Rosie, who move to a rural village known for its eerie tales of supernatural creatures. As Rosie's due date approaches, strange things begin happening—animals go missing, and eerie noises are heard at night. The villagers warn Lito about the aswang, a shape-shifting creature that preys on pregnant women and their unborn children.
One night, Rosie falls gravely ill, and Lito suspects that an aswang is targeting his wife. He consults with a local albularyo (healer), who confirms that the creature has been circling their home, drawn to Rosie's pregnancy. The albularyo provides them with protective rituals and charms, but the aswang's attacks intensify.
In a climactic battle, Lito confronts the aswang, using the albularyo's knowledge to weaken the creature and protect his wife and unborn child. The story concludes with Lito and Rosie narrowly escaping the aswang’s clutches, but not without the lingering fear that the creature may return.
"Hilaw" explores themes of fear, survival, and the supernatural, blending Filipino folklore with real-life horror in a suspenseful tale of a family fighting to protect their future from a dark, ancient force.
