"Tabi Tabi Po" is a Tagalog horror animation based on a true story about aswang and lamanlupa (earth spirits). The story follows Luis, a young man who accidentally disturbs a sacred spot in a remote rural area while building a new home. Unaware of the local customs, Luis fails to say the respectful phrase, "Tabi Tabi Po," which is believed to ask permission from unseen spirits to avoid offending them.
Soon after, strange and terrifying things begin to happenāLuis and his family hear eerie noises at night, objects move on their own, and the family starts falling ill. The locals warn them that they have angered the lamanlupa, earth-dwelling spirits who protect the land, and that the aswang may also be drawn to the disturbance.
Desperate to save his family, Luis consults a local albularyo (healer), who confirms that they have violated a sacred space and must perform a ritual to ask forgiveness from the lamanlupa. As the family faces both supernatural forces and the aswang, they must find a way to lift the curse before the malevolent spirits claim them.
"Tabi Tabi Po" blends Filipino folklore with horror, emphasizing the importance of respecting the unseen forces of nature. The story highlights the consequences of ignoring cultural traditions and the dangers of the supernatural in everyday life.
