In this story, Mark, a popular quarterback, initially pursues Amber, the new girl, after realizing she's attractive. To secure his chemistry grade, he pretends to like her while using her help for a project. Meanwhile, he dismisses Anna, a smart girl from the chess club, despite her crush on him. 

As the plot unfolds, Mark’s deceit leads to Anna feeling hurt and humiliated, while he enjoys a successful summer with Amber. However, after a makeover, Anna returns even more attractive, catching Mark's attention again. When he tries to reconnect with Anna, she reveals she's found someone who appreciates her for who she is. 

Ultimately, Mark's shallow behavior comes back to haunt him, leading to a fallout with both girls, especially when his past manipulations are exposed. The story emphasizes themes of authenticity, self-improvement, and the consequences of superficial relationships.
