The movie starts with a text explaining humanity’s downfall due to a manmade virus that turned them into less intelligent beings, while intelligent apes emerged. The narrative includes a tribute to Caesar, a prominent ape who sacrificed much for his kind.

Centuries later, apes have formed various clans. The story focuses on three young apes—Noa, Sona, and Anaya—from the Eagle Clan. They are on a quest to retrieve eagle eggs for a bonding ritual. The ritual requires them to collect eggs from a nest, but they can only take two out of three. Noa climbs to a higher cliff to find a third egg and encounters a sun eagle. As he grabs the egg, the eagle attacks, causing him to fall. Noa manages to cling to the side of an old building, narrowly escaping danger.
