In the film "Spree," we follow Kurt Kunkle, a young man desperate for social media fame. After years of low viewership on his channel, he concocts a sinister plan called "The Lesson" to gain attention. He starts livestreaming his rideshare driving, initially poisoning his passengers' water bottles to create shocking content.
Kurt's first victim, Frederick, dies from the poison, but his stream barely garners interest. He continues his spree, killing more passengers, including realtor Andrea and influencer Jessie. Despite his horrific acts, he struggles to build an audience, as viewers still perceive his actions as fake.
Kurt's path leads him to an altercation with his former babysitter, Bobby, whom he ultimately kills in a fit of rage. After a chaotic night of murders, Kurt attempts to capitalize on his notoriety while remaining under police radar.
The film takes a turn when Jessie, after experiencing Kurt's deadly intentions firsthand, fights back and ultimately kills him. In the aftermath, Jessie rises to fame for stopping Kurt, while he becomes an infamous figure in online communities, showcasing the dark side of social media obsession and the lengths one will go for fame.
