In the film, Sven wakes up to a vision of his wife, Paula, who is returning from a space mission. He rushes to get their daughter, Charlie, who has a hearing disability, so they can watch Paula's landing live. Tensions rise when Paula's co-pilot, Hadi, struggles to deploy the parachute, but they ultimately land safely in the Atacama desert. 

Later that night, Paula hints at something strange happening in space but cuts the call short, sensing eavesdropping. The next day, while waiting at the airport with other families for the astronauts’ return, they learn that Paula's flight has gone missing, leading to chaos and despair. 

Sven tries to comfort the children but breaks down when alone, fearing he may never see Paula again. The following morning, authorities confirm the crash, devastating the families. Sven is interrogated by federal agents about his last conversation with Paula, but he can only express his sorrow. He and Charlie then face more challenges, including a declined credit card at the parking lot, adding to their struggle.
