The movie opens in the mid Qing dynasty, a tumultuous time for China as Western powers invade. Prince Dun is responsible for the nation's safety but struggles to fend off attacks. He learns of a sudden invasion by 20,000 British troops and rushes outside to assess the situation. Spotting a British airplane overhead, he becomes terrified, realizing his army lacks the necessary firearms to confront the threat.
