The story opens with Rie, a journalist and artist, visiting an underground construction site in Denmark to document the lives of the workers building a metro. After taking an elevator down, she is handed a makeshift breathing apparatus by one of the workers to prepare for potential claustrophobic situations. The worker also mentally prepares her for any dangers inside the tunnel.
