The movie opens with US director Eric arriving in Cyprus to film a documentary, accompanied by his wife, Sophia, who is originally from the island. They are greeted at the airport by a tour guide named Anna, who informs them about the rich history of the area, including sea serpents, mermaids, myths, and legends of ancient gods, as well as local ghost stories. Anna highlights the infamous Hotel Gula, which has been abandoned for nearly two decades and is rumored to be cursed, instilling fear in the locals and providing intriguing material for Eric's documentary.
