The story begins at Cord Industries' outpost in Antarctica, where Lieutenant Carapax eagerly welcomes the CEO, Victoria Cord, who has been searching for a particular object for 15 years. Two weeks prior, a mysterious orb was discovered in the area. While Dr. River is skeptical, Victoria is convinced this is the legendary Scarab she has been seeking.
