In 2002, 14-year-old Ava from Bridgeport, Connecticut, wakes up to a loud noise and remembers her father’s warning that she would have to rely on herself. When she investigates, she discovers her father, a drug lord, murdered by two masked intruders. Instead of panicking, Ava takes control, grabbing a shotgun and killing both assailants.
