The story begins with Frank, a man recording a video about the dark and unpredictable future. His camerawoman, Casey, interrupts, asking him to focus on his childhood instead. The narrative shifts to a young Frank attending the New York World's Fair, where he brings a jet backpack for an invention contest. Although his invention impresses a staff member named David Nix, it is rejected for not being useful enough to humanity. Undeterred, Frank insists he'll make it work.
