The story kicks off in an elevator shaft where a guard encounters a repairman. Suspicious, the guard asks for a work permit, but the repairman stabs him, suggesting something sinister. Elsewhere, a meeting of business executives wraps up, and many of them head for the elevator. Suddenly, a bomb detonates, causing the elevator to plummet, but luckily the emergency brakes stop it just in time.
