In the story, a spacecraft crashes in the Las Vegas desert and is detected by government computer scans. A group of serious men in black coats, led by a man named Burke, is on a mission to retrieve the crashed object. Meanwhile, Jack Bruno, a taxi driver stuck in traffic, is approached by two men dressed in stormtrooper-like costumes who get into his cab, but he’s not interested in their jokes. As Burke's team searches the crash site, they discover the spaceship but no aliens, although Burke senses they're not alone. Later, Jack picks up another passenger, a woman named Dr. Alex, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding events.
