On a strange planet, the story begins with a vulture picking at a hand before being seized by Riddick, who emerges from the rubble. He attempts to reach a water source, only to discover that it’s undrinkable. After resting for a moment, Riddick is startled awake by howling noises and realizes he needs to fix his broken leg, which he does painfully by wedging his foot between two rocks.
