In the 2002 teen comedy The Hot Chick, the story opens with a flashback set in ancient Ethiopia, where Princess Nawa is trapped in a loveless marriage to an unkind king. Desperate for a way out, she turns to black magic in the form of a pair of magical earrings. When Nawa puts on one earring and her slave puts on the other, they magically switch bodies. While Nawa escapes her marriage, the slave is thrust into the princess's life, including having to marry the king.
