Outside New York City, Sam is receiving cancer treatment in a hospice. Feeling pessimistic and with few friends besides her cat Frodo, she attends group therapy where she reads poetry expressing her negativity. Despite this, care worker Reuben remains supportive and suggests they go to the city to watch a puppet show with other patients. Sam agrees on the condition of having pizza afterward. As they travel, a meteor shower turns out to be an alien invasion. Sam finds herself in a building with survivors, including Reuben and Frodo, hiding from the creatures. They must remain quiet to avoid detection as chaos ensues outside.
