The duo volunteers, with Albert seeking advancement for humanity and Max seeking adventure away from family. Following three years of hibernation, they wake up in 2044 to find a world ravaged by war where men are extinct. The women in charge reveal that they reproduce through parthenogenesis. Confusion ensues, and they are confined for stealing apples reminiscent of Adam and Eve's story. Albert and Max contemplate escaping to a possibly better world outside, while Lamia grapples with unexpected feelings following an incident with Max.
