In March 2016, Michelle breaks up with her fiance after an argument, leaving her engagement ring and keys behind. Ignoring her ex's calls, she learns of a city blackout on the radio. As she looks down at her phone, her car flips, and she wakes up in a concrete room. Chained to a wall, Michelle tries to free herself, eventually finding her phone but with no signal. Howard arrives with food.
