In 2032, in the Eastern United States, Flynne checks on her brother Burton, who lives in a trailer outside the house. Burton is playing a VR game and explains he has a competition to win money for their mom's medicine. He asks Flynne to help him win a level. Flynne takes over his avatar, leads the party to victory, and finds an important map. Later, Burton's friends deliver a new headset for him to beta test. Despite Flynne actually helping Burton reach level 100, she agrees to test the new headset for the payment it offers.
