In 1938, amidst the Civil War in Spain, Nazis support Nationalists, leading to Republican losses. A wedding celebration is disrupted by a Nazi Major who orders a deadly attack. Captain Jan narrowly avoids execution and is tasked with delivering a letter to Alarcos. He is joined by Decruz, a driver facing punishment for cowardice. The mission is perilous but preferable to death.
