In Los Angeles, Eve, with her children Josh and Izzy, experiences an earthquake while taking them to school, leading to a sinkhole that swallows them. Josh falls in trying to help someone and Eve soon follows. Meanwhile, Gavin, Eve's ex-husband, is haunted by visions of birds and a giant hole in a city. Eve wakes up in a strange countryside after falling through a green light, with a mysterious bloody handprint nearby.
