In a parallel version of Ancient Russia called Belogorie, soldiers chase warrior Alyosha. He defeats them quickly, catches an arrow, and faces sorceress Varvara who turns him into stone. Meanwhile, in modern Moscow, con artist Ivan cheats his way to victory in a psychic contest. An old lady warns him of his impending doom, which Ivan dismisses. The next day, he meets a client and performs a mysterious task.
