Humanity destroyed Earth's atmosphere in 2014, leading to artificial cooling agents being used to combat global warming. However, this results in a new ice age on the planet. The few surviving humans now live on a perpetual motion train led by a genius scientist named Wilford. Social hierarchy is evident on the train, with different classes segregated. A guard violently separates a talented musician from his wife, sparking tension among the passengers.
