The film begins by introducing Thomas Dunn, a young boy captivated by a movie featuring a hero who is part-man, part-robot, on a mission to stop an alien invasion. Thomas, inspired by the hero's bravery, leads his friends in imaginary play to save the world. Years later, Thomas is now married to Mandy and they discover she is pregnant. Despite the sorrow of their late daughter, Rebecca's passing, the news of a new life fills them with hope. Thomas continues to cherish the bracelet his father gave him, symbolizing their bond and trust.
