Dot, a mute DEA girl, longs to be invisible in crowds, feeling unseen in the school cafeteria where she sits alone. Her stepsister, Nah, a cheerleader, is popular but they don't connect. Dot prefers solitude, hiding in the bathroom. Nina, Nah's mother, hopes they'll bond, although Nah avoids Dot. Nah's friend, Michelle, is invited for dinner, but Paul, Dot's father, likely tired from work, may not join. Concerned about Dot's isolation, Janice, Nina's counselor, learns Dot lost her parents and struggles to socialize.
