Maxim was in custody when Mrs Danvers met a doctor deceiving him to steal docents. She discovered Rebecca was suffering from cancer, and Maxim was released. Mrs Danvers set fire to Rebecca's estate, and Maxim helped extinguish it. Despite her nightmares, Mrs. Danvers is happy with her husband and they travel the world.
