Meanwhile, a mission called "Mission One" sends astronauts to Mars, but an electrical disturbance causes them to vanish upon landing, disrupting communication with Earth. Six years later, in 2036, Mack works at the United Space Planetary Corporation, deploying a rover to Mars and collaborating with the AI, Arty, despite her skepticism about its reliability.
