The opening scene introduces Edna, an elderly woman who appears confused and bewildered before abruptly disappearing from her home, leaving her family puzzled. Concerned, her daughter and granddaughter, Sam, travel from the city to the wilderness to investigate. Upon arriving, they find Edna's door mysteriously shut from the inside. Despite gaining entry, Edna is nowhere to be found, and the state of the house deepens the mystery, featuring black fungus, decaying fruit, and scattered papers.
