In 60 AD, the Roman Empire sought to conquer the unconquered island of Britannia, where the Druids bravely resisted Roman control. Roman soldiers killed 300 Druids on the island of Mona, prompting the Druids to pray for their mythical warrior goddess to save them. In Rome, Commander Paulinus reported this massacre to King Nero, who became concerned about the Druids' beliefs and enacted a law forbidding women from holding important societal roles.
