Stonehenge in Salisbury Plain, England, is a mysterious ancient site with towering stones that hint at ancient societies and rituals. The name comes from the old English word for "Stone Hanging. " Originally, there were about 80 stones, but now only 52 remain in two circles. The stones, up to 13 feet tall and 25 tons, have intrigued archaeologists finding charred wood, antlers, and Roman pottery during excavations.
