The movie introduces Katie Heron, a 16-year-old homeschooled in Kenya who moves back to the US and starts at Northshore High School. She befriends outcasts Janice and Damian, but falls victim to manipulative Regina and her group The Plastics, leading to a series of pranks and a failed dance performance.
