The show begins with Akari Takabana, a young girl yearning for romance like the comics she reads. Despite being a second-year art student with many friends, she prefers staying home and reading. Her plans to visit the comic book store are derailed when friends invite her to karaoke. Fate disappoints her when the bookstore closes. Akari meets Azumi Naros, a new university student, during this time. Akari tries to connect with Azumi but is interrupted by her friends, leaving her feeling alone on the road.
