The movie starts on December 31, 2011, with a young man named Young Ho sitting alone in a park, troubled that he has been waiting to meet a woman for years. Despite never meeting her, he continues searching and hoping. Flashback to eight years earlier, Young Ho struggles with college entrance exams due to poor academics, having to retake them yearly. During a solo lunch, Sue Jin, a bold and beautiful girl, strikes up a conversation, revealing she too has faced college rejections. Surprised by her beauty and understanding, Young Ho says a simple goodbye as they part ways, leaving him intrigued. Upon returning home, he discovers a family secret.
