The first scene at Zynomia High School features third-year student Kishimoto, who loves Japanese archery (Kudo) and is the captain of the school's Archery Club. Despite practicing hard, Kishimoto injures her forearm and struggles to meet expectations for an upcoming tournament. Second-year archer Yoda, who is concerned for Kishimoto, wins the tournament instead. Feeling defeated, Kishimoto decides to quit archery but is stopped by Yoda, who reveals she secretly increased her bow's draw weight, putting her at risk of injury.
