Boss wants to know how competition grew LinkedIn followers so fast and is asking me to do it too- any tips? At a startup, our competition has 6k followers and we have 700. My CEO is upset that we don’t have as many. They’ve been posting for longer but not that frequently; do brands buy followers? Is it just from promoting posts? I don’t know how to catch up. Please give me some hacks! Yes I know followers are a vanity metric and don’t matter. Just need to keep the boss happy.

While it's important to keep in mind that follower count is not the only measure of success on LinkedIn, I understand your need to keep your boss satisfied. Here are some strategies you can consider to help increase your LinkedIn followers: 1. Optimize your LinkedIn Company Page: Ensure that your company page is complete and visually appealing. Use a high-quality logo, add a compelling banner image, and write a concise and engaging company description. Include relevant keywords to improve search visibility. 2. Publish valuable and shareable content: Focus on creating high-quality, informative, and relevant content that resonates with your target audience. Share industry insights, thought leadership articles, case studies, and helpful tips. Use a mix of formats such as text posts, images, videos, and SlideShare presentations to keep your content diverse and engaging. 3. Consistent posting schedule: Develop a posting schedule that works for your audience and stick to it consistently. Posting regularly helps increase visibility and engagement. Experiment with different posting times to identify when your audience is most active. 4. Engage with your audience: Actively respond to comments and messages on your posts. Encourage discussions and ask questions to stimulate engagement. Engaging with your audience shows that you value their opinions and builds a stronger connection. 5. Leverage LinkedIn Groups: Join relevant LinkedIn Groups and participate in discussions. Share your expertise, answer questions, and provide value to the community. This can help increase your visibility and attract potential followers. 6. Collaborate with influencers: Identify influencers or industry experts in your niche and collaborate with them. This can be done through co-creating content, hosting webinars together, or featuring them in your posts. Their followers may be interested in your content and choose to follow your page. 7. Promote your LinkedIn page: Cross-promote your LinkedIn page on other social media platforms, your website, email newsletters, and other marketing channels. Encourage your employees to follow and share your content, as their networks can help expand your reach. 8. Use LinkedIn advertising: Consider using LinkedIn advertising to promote your page or specific posts. This can help increase visibility and attract relevant followers. 9. Analyze and optimize: Regularly review your LinkedIn analytics to understand which content performs well and resonates with your audience. Use this data to optimize your content strategy and focus on what works best for your followers. Remember, building a strong and engaged follower base takes time and effort. It's important to focus on quality over quantity and aim to attract followers who are genuinely interested in your brand and content.
