The drama begins with main character Joe Kangja returning home to her dysfunctional family after closing her restaurant. Her husband avoids family issues, her mother-in-law complains, and her teenage daughter, Ah Ron, is distant. Kangja watches as her daughter leaves for night school, where Ah Ron stands up to bullies with calmness and strength. When Kangja discovers bruises on her daughter's body, she demands answers but Ah Ron tells her to stay out of it. Kangja decides to discuss the situation with her husband and plans to visit the school for a solution, despite his objections.
