The story begins in 2006 with 15-year-old Anita trying to set up a photo blog account on her computer while her older sister Louisa yells at her to hurry up for school. In 2021, Anita, now 30, lives alone in a rundown apartment with a troubled love life. She reluctantly attends her sister's wedding back in her hometown, facing old bullies and feeling out of place. Anita's high school friend, Enrique, rescues her from an awkward situation. She then learns about her cousin Carol's unhappy marriage and catches Carol's husband cheating, leading to a heated confrontation.
