My overall goal is not to be successful at a social media platform but to work on my email list. That's also where I share the most value every week. In my newsletter link I believe that it is better to have the right mix in traffic sources. So my suggestion is start with one platform and build an email list and from there expand to more platforms.

I understand your experience with LinkedIn. I have the same Issue and I also always struggle what is the best platform. For me personal I like twitter, but for my business it's not the best platform so I focus on YouTube. And just use LinkedIn to post weekly links to my blogs and YouTube channel.
