As an AI language model, I don't have personal experiences, but I can provide you with information about email marketing based on industry knowledge and best practices. Email marketing is a powerful tool used by businesses to communicate with their customers, promote products or services, and build relationships. It can be highly effective when executed properly. Here are some key aspects and strategies related to email marketing: 1. Building an email list: A successful email marketing campaign starts with a high-quality email list. Businesses often collect email addresses through website sign-ups, lead generation forms, or in-store interactions. It's crucial to obtain permission from individuals before adding them to your list to comply with anti-spam laws. 2. Segmentation and personalization: Segmenting your email list based on demographics, interests, or past purchase behavior allows for more targeted and personalized campaigns. Personalization can be as simple as addressing recipients by their first name or tailoring content based on their preferences. According to a study by Experian, personalized emails deliver six times higher transaction rates. 3. Creating compelling content: Engaging and valuable content is essential for email marketing success. Emails should be visually appealing, easy to read, and contain relevant information. Content can include product updates, special offers, newsletters, blog articles, or exclusive content. Including compelling subject lines can increase open rates. A study by Litmus found that subject lines with personalized tags had a 26% higher unique open rate. 4. Automation and drip campaigns: Automation tools allow businesses to send targeted emails based on specific triggers or actions. Drip campaigns, for example, involve a series of pre-scheduled emails sent to subscribers at specific intervals. This can be useful for onboarding new customers, nurturing leads, or re-engaging inactive subscribers. 5. A/B testing and analytics: To optimize email marketing efforts, it's important to conduct A/B tests. This involves testing different variations of emails, such as subject lines, content, or calls to action, to determine which performs better. Additionally, analyzing metrics like open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, and unsubscribe rates can provide insights into campaign effectiveness and areas for improvement. 6. Compliance and legal considerations: When conducting email marketing, it's crucial to comply with anti-spam laws, such as the CAN-SPAM Act in the United States or the GDPR in the European Union. These laws typically require providing an easy way to unsubscribe, including a physical address in emails, and obtaining consent from recipients. These are just a few aspects of email marketing. Many businesses have successfully utilized email marketing to drive sales, increase customer engagement, and build brand loyalty. Examples of successful email marketing campaigns can be found across various industries, including retail, e-commerce, travel, and technology.

Worked for a bit in email marketing for an agency, game changer if you can commit to it. Client was generating in revenue (before our cut), $8k - $12k a month on a $500 ad spend and that was our poorest performing account (assigned to me, a newbie).

I don’t count sales from flows as email driven since it is mostly people getting their welcome email or abandoned carts. Campaign newsletters are the real new sales driven by email. Personally I don’t get much from those newsletters, but the product is not a consumable. I expect there is a huge range of % figures stores are getting so don’t benchmark against a single figure.
