In terms of value, actual sales hold significantly more importance than data collection and customer details for spamming unsuccessful follow-up or abandoned cart emails. While data collection and customer details are essential for marketing and customer relationship management, their true value lies in their ability to drive sales and generate revenue for a business. 1. Focus on actual sales: The ultimate goal of any business is to generate revenue and make sales. Actual sales directly contribute to a company's financial success and sustainability. For example, if an e-commerce company focuses on converting abandoned carts into sales rather than spamming customers with follow-up emails, it is more likely to see an increase in revenue and profitability. 2. Customer experience: Prioritizing actual sales over spamming customers with follow-up emails enhances the overall customer experience. Customers appreciate personalized and relevant communication that adds value to their purchasing journey. A study by Accenture found that 91% of consumers are more likely to shop with brands that provide relevant offers and recommendations. Therefore, a customer-centric approach that focuses on actual sales is more likely to build trust, loyalty, and long-term customer relationships. 3. Optimal resource allocation: Investing time and resources in spamming unsuccessful follow-up or abandoned cart emails may not yield significant returns. On the other hand, allocating resources towards strategies that directly drive sales, such as improving product offerings, enhancing customer service, or optimizing the checkout process, can result in higher conversion rates and increased revenue. 4. Legal and ethical considerations: Spamming customers with excessive follow-up emails can be seen as intrusive and may even violate privacy laws and regulations. For instance, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union requires businesses to obtain explicit consent from individuals before sending marketing communications. By focusing on actual sales, businesses can maintain a positive brand image and avoid potential legal issues associated with spamming. In conclusion, while data collection and customer details are important for marketing purposes, their primary value lies in their ability to drive actual sales. Prioritizing actual sales not only generates revenue but also improves the customer experience, optimizes resource allocation, and ensures compliance with legal and ethical standards.

I think this is more an issue for global businesses who need an address to calculate shipping. but for national stores (like mine), i offer free shipping on everything. So I guess they're stuck in a rock & a hard place. Lose customers on abandonment becasue they cant see price, or lose customers by restricting business to your home country.

I always bounce if I’m asked for a credit card before I can see my total.

I agree with you. I’d get annoyed and just leave and never return. As a consumer I appreciate transparency above anything else.
