Complaints about the number of packages handled by the United States Postal Service (USPS) can be addressed by implementing several strategies to improve the process. Here are some detailed suggestions: 1. Automation and Technology: - Implement advanced sorting and processing technologies to increase efficiency. Automated sorting machines can handle a higher volume of packages in less time. - Utilize barcode scanning and tracking systems to streamline package handling and reduce errors. - Invest in route optimization software to enhance delivery routes and reduce travel time. 2. Workforce Management: - Hire additional staff during peak seasons to manage the increased volume of packages effectively. - Provide comprehensive training to employees to improve their efficiency in handling packages. - Implement performance metrics and rewards to motivate employees and ensure productivity. 3. Collaboration and Partnerships: - Collaborate with e-commerce companies and retailers to optimize the packaging and labeling of products, making it easier to handle and sort packages. - Establish partnerships with local businesses or third-party logistics providers to offload some package volume during peak periods. 4. Customer Education and Communication: - Educate customers about proper packaging guidelines to prevent delays and damage during transit. - Encourage customers to use USPS online tools and services, such as scheduling pickups, tracking packages, and printing labels, to reduce manual handling. 5. Infrastructure and Facility Upgrades: - Invest in upgrading USPS facilities to accommodate higher package volumes. This includes expanding sorting centers, installing additional automated sorting machines, and improving storage capacity. - Improve transportation infrastructure to ensure timely and efficient movement of packages between facilities. 6. Pricing and Service Offerings: - Evaluate pricing structures to incentivize customers to use USPS for smaller or lighter packages, which can be processed more efficiently. - Introduce new services or delivery options tailored to the needs of e-commerce customers, such as flexible delivery windows or alternative pickup locations. 7. Data Analysis and Forecasting: - Utilize data analytics to identify peak periods, predict volume fluctuations, and allocate resources accordingly. - Collaborate with partners to share data and forecasts, enabling better coordination and planning. If you are shipping that many, you can get a discount from UPS or other shipping companies.

It’s called “end of day” in ShipStation to get a USPS Scan Sheet. You need to do it before 9PM eastern the same day you are shipping or it’ll error out.
