Determining the best sports anime is subjective, as it depends on personal preferences. However, one sports anime that is often regarded as exceptional is "Haikyuu!!." This anime revolves around the sport of volleyball and has gained immense popularity worldwide. Here are some reasons why "Haikyuu!!" is considered one of the best sports anime:

1. Engaging Storyline: "Haikyuu!!" follows the journey of Shoyo Hinata, a short-statured high school student with a passion for volleyball. Despite his lack of height, Hinata dreams of becoming a great player. The anime showcases his growth, struggles, and the challenges faced by his team, Karasuno High School, as they aim to become the best in the prefecture. The well-crafted storyline keeps viewers engaged and invested in the characters' development.

2. Dynamic Characters: "Haikyuu!!" boasts a diverse cast of characters, each with unique personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. The anime focuses not only on the main protagonist, Hinata, but also on the growth and development of his teammates, rivals, and opponents. The characters' backstories, motivations, and interactions create a rich and relatable narrative.

3. Intense Matches: The anime showcases thrilling volleyball matches that are both visually captivating and emotionally charged. The matches are well-animated, with dynamic action sequences that effectively convey the intensity and excitement of the sport. The strategic aspects of volleyball are also highlighted, making the matches more engaging and realistic.

4. Emotional Depth: "Haikyuu!!" delves into the emotional aspects of sports, portraying the players' determination, teamwork, and the bonds they form. It explores themes of friendship, rivalry, self-discovery, and personal growth. The anime effectively balances the emotional depth with humor, creating a well-rounded viewing experience.

5. Realistic Portrayal of Volleyball: "Haikyuu!!" is praised for its accurate depiction of volleyball techniques, strategies, and rules. The attention to detail in showcasing the sport's dynamics adds authenticity to the anime. This realism appeals to both sports enthusiasts and those unfamiliar with volleyball, making it accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience.

While "Haikyuu!!" is a popular choice, other notable sports anime series include "Kuroko's Basketball," "Slam Dunk," "Yuri!!! on Ice," "Free!," and "Ping Pong: The Animation." Each of these anime has its own unique qualities and strengths, catering to various sports interests and storytelling preferences. Ultimately, the best sports anime is subjective, and exploring different series allows viewers to find the one that resonates with them the most.

Yuri on Ice. I don’t like sports anime and I dropped it but it was pretty good. I just don’t enjoy the genre.
