As an AI language model, I don't have personal opinions or preferences. However, I can provide you with an analysis of Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin's careers, allowing you to make an informed decision based on their achievements and impact on the sport of ice hockey.
Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin are two of the greatest players of their generation, and their careers have been closely intertwined since they entered the NHL in 2005. Both players have achieved remarkable success individually and have significantly impacted their respective teams and the league as a whole.
Sidney Crosby, the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, is known for his exceptional skill, leadership, and consistency. He has won three Stanley Cups (2009, 2016, 2017) and has been awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP twice (2009, 2016). Crosby has also won two Olympic gold medals with Team Canada (2010, 2014) and has been named to the NHL All-Star team multiple times.
Crosby's style of play is characterized by his exceptional hockey IQ, playmaking abilities, and two-way game. He has consistently been among the league leaders in assists and has been a consistent point-per-game player throughout his career. Crosby's leadership qualities and ability to elevate his game in crucial moments have made him one of the most respected players in the league.
On the other hand, Alexander Ovechkin, the captain of the Washington Capitals, is known for his incredible goal-scoring ability and raw talent. Ovechkin has won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the league's leading goal scorer a record nine times and has consistently been among the top offensive players in the NHL. He has also won the Hart Trophy as the league MVP three times (2008, 2009, 2013).
Ovechkin's impact on the game is undeniable, as he has redefined the winger position with his powerful shot and physicality. His goal-scoring prowess, combined with his passion and enthusiasm for the game, has made him a fan favorite and an iconic figure in the sport. Ovechkin's leadership qualities have also been recognized, as he led the Capitals to their first-ever Stanley Cup victory in 2018.
When comparing Crosby and Ovechkin, it ultimately comes down to personal preferences and what aspects of the game you value more. Crosby's well-rounded game, consistency, and leadership make him an invaluable asset to any team, while Ovechkin's goal-scoring ability and impact on the game are unmatched.
It is worth noting that both players have had their fair share of injuries throughout their careers. Crosby has faced multiple concussions, while Ovechkin has dealt with various minor injuries. However, they have both shown resilience and determination to bounce back and continue performing at an elite level.
In conclusion, both Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin have had outstanding careers, and deciding between them is subjective. They have different playing styles and have excelled in different areas of the game. Ultimately, it depends on personal preferences and what qualities you value more in a player.

They are both tremendous players, I prefer Ovechkin because he has been and still is much more physical.

Crosby. The full package, plays a more valuable position, better leader.

Looking back, it’s not even a question. More Cups, an Oly gold, possibly a better team player. Crosby all day, every day.

There are strong pros and minor cons to both players, but both are very different play styles. Crosby plays Centre and sets up some of the best plays with more underrated players than any other player in the NHL. The only Centreman that compares to Crsoby is McDavid when he doesn't have Draisaitl on in his wing. The argument that Crsoby had Malkin is completely nullified, because they only rarely play on the same powerplay unit, since Malkin is the regular 2nd line Centre for the Pens. Proof of who played on Crosby's wing that probably no one remembers are Pascal Dupuis, Chris Kunitz, Carl Hagelin, Dominik Simon, Daniel Sprong, Matt Cullen, Lee Stempniak, Ty Kennedy, James Neal, and Beau Bennette over the years. Crsoby found a way to make each one of these players better on the ice statistically, a feat no one else has accomplished. This also comes with 3 Stanley Cups under Crosby with the Pens. But Crosby has the poor history of concussions and injury protocol limiting his games played. So my gut feeling is that he could have been even more valuable, but we may never know. Ovechkin is the greatest Leftwinger that has played in the NHL. He will break Gretzky's most goals scored if he can keep up the pace and stay healthy in the process. Ovi has had 2 very consistent Centres over his career, the first being Backstrom, and the second is his current partner Kuznetsov. Both Centres compliment Ovi very well, both setup incredible plays and have strong net presence. Ovi has also had more memorable highlight clips than Crosby, like "the goal" (if you haven't seen it, Google it) where Ovi scores from a trip and he's on his back on the ice, and his stick swings over his head blind and scores. One thing I will point out that most people probably don't think about for Ovi is that he's in a Leaugue where he's an outsider battling up hill more so than Crosby had to. Russians are notorious for playing their style, and it doesn't always translate to success. Look at Ilya Kovalchuk or Alexie Kovalev for examples. Ovi has broken that stigma, and worked very hard to pull it off, and ended up earning a cup for the Caps. Not just ANY Cup, but their FIRST Cup! No one else can make that claim but the members of the 2018 Caps. But between choosing one player over the other, truly, it's not easy, but Crosby wins my choice by the smallest edge. If I was the GM of a team and I already had a strong Centre, than Ovi is my choice, but if I were building a team around a player, Crosby wins it.

To build a team around it’s definitely Crosby. That said, I like watching Ovis game better. A lot more physical and is the best goal scorer in the last 10 years.

Crosby is a better two way player. Ovi had to be introduced to his defense.

I really want to say Ovi, the man is a machine, the goals, the shots, the hits, I love to watch him play. However, I’m thinking along the lines of C vs W, and I really think a superstar 1C is very important. Crosby is an amazing player, and those who say otherwise let their feelings get the better of them.

Even if they were equal in all respects, which they're not. I'm taking the center over the wing. Easier to build around and more team focused, no brainer.

Sid also defeated the caps on mutliple occasions, I'd argue that skews playoff games Slightly. If we replay their careers a thousand times I'm sure Ovi wins one or two more of those.
