The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President, Faruque Ahmed, has stepped forward to address concerns regarding the payment of players participating in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). His assurance comes amid rising apprehension about delayed payments from franchisees.
Missing Bank Guarantees Create Uncertainty

"You have to consider the overall situation from everyone's perspective over the last four months," he explained, hinting at potential financial or logistical challenges faced by the franchises.

Faruque reassured all stakeholders that the players' payments would not be jeopardized despite the uncertainty.
"This does not mean the players will not get their payments. We have taken various steps to ensure this. As board president, I have spoken with franchise representatives to emphasize that we are partners in this endeavour. They are also investing in Bangladesh cricket," he affirmed.
Players Respond to Payment Delays
On the opening day of the BPL, Durbar Rajshahi captain Anamul Haque Bijoy was asked about the payment delays. While acknowledging the situation, he maintained a positive outlook.
"We haven't received any payments yet; none of us have. The BPL has just started. We don't want to raise questions or create complications.
Cricketers don't want that either," said the former national opener. He highlighted the potential global impact of such news, saying, "The BPL is watched globally, and such news about non-payment shouldn't surface in international cricket."
Trust in Franchises and the BCB
Despite the delays, Anamul Haque expressed confidence in the system and the parties involved. "We want to approach the BPL positively.
The owners won't leave without paying us, and the BCB will ensure it is resolved. We believe the delay is due to logistical reasons, and we trust the matter will be addressed appropriately," he concluded.
