According to health officials, HMPV accounts for approximately 10% of adult pneumonia cases and is responsible for 4-6% of viral illnesses in children. The Current Situation in India The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) confirmed cases in various states, with two cases reported in Bengaluru, one in Ahmedabad, and two in Nagpur. Tamil Nadu's Health Secretary, Supriya Sahu, confirmed two active cases in Chennai and Salem.
